Choosing a Medicare plan is a big decision. You don't have to make it alone.

Compare plans and add your information before your review.

Whether you're turning 65, retiring from a job-based plan, or reviewing coverage you already have, we help you understand how each option works and what it would mean for your doctors, your prescriptions, and your budget. Because we're independent, we compare plans from multiple insurance companies side by side and recommend only what fits you.

How Medicare coverage fits together

Most people choose one of two paths: Original Medicare, usually paired with a Medigap policy and a Part D drug plan, or an all-in-one Medicare Advantage plan.

Parts A and B

Original Medicare

Run by the federal government. Part A helps cover hospital stays, and Part B covers doctor visits, outpatient care, and preventive services. You can see any provider in the country that accepts Medicare, but there's no yearly limit on what you pay out of pocket, which is why many people add a Medigap policy.

Part C

Medicare Advantage

Plans from private insurance companies approved by Medicare that combine Part A and Part B coverage, and usually drug coverage too. Most use provider networks, such as HMOs or PPOs, and include a yearly out-of-pocket maximum. Many add benefits like dental, vision, or hearing, which vary by plan and county.

Medigap

Medicare Supplement

Works alongside Original Medicare to help pay costs like deductibles, copays, and coinsurance. Plans are standardized by letter, so a Plan G from one company has the same benefits as a Plan G from another. What differs is the price and the company. Medigap doesn't include drug coverage and can't be combined with Medicare Advantage.

Part D

Prescription Drug Plans

Stand-alone drug coverage for people with Original Medicare. Each plan has its own list of covered drugs and preferred pharmacies, and those lists can change every year. That's why we check your specific prescriptions and pharmacy before you enroll, not just the monthly premium.

When you can enroll or make changes

Medicare has set windows for signing up and switching plans. Missing one can mean waiting months or paying a late penalty.

Common Medicare questions

Does it cost anything to work with HelpCare?

No. We're paid by the insurance companies when you enroll, and your premium is the same whether you enroll through us or directly with the plan.

Do you show me every Medicare plan available?

No. We work with multiple insurance companies, but we do not offer every plan available in your area. The disclaimer at the bottom of this page shows how many organizations and products we currently represent.

For information on all of your options, contact Medicare.gov, 1-800-MEDICARE, or SHINE, Florida's free State Health Insurance Assistance Program, at 1-800-963-5337.

I'm still working at 65. Do I need to sign up for Medicare?

It depends on your job-based coverage. Many people covered through a current employer with 20 or more employees can delay Part B without a penalty, but the rules vary. Check with your HR or benefits office before you decide, and we're happy to walk through the timing with you.

Can I keep my doctors?

With Original Medicare and a Medigap policy, you can see any provider in the U.S. that accepts Medicare. Medicare Advantage plans usually have networks, so we check your doctors against each plan's directory before you choose.

I already have a Medicare plan. Can you still help?

Yes. Plans can change their costs, networks, and drug lists every year. We can review your Annual Notice of Change with you each fall and check whether your plan still fits.

What should I have ready for a Medicare review?

Your Medicare card if you have one, a list of your doctors, your prescriptions with dosages, and your preferred pharmacy. Our Turning 65 checklist includes a worksheet for all of it.
